Kahlon Family Services offers an educational yoga program specifically designed for children with Autism and other learning challenges.
How does it work?
KFS blends the principles of yoga, sensory integration, and developmentally based strategies that foster emotional, social and intellectual growth.
Who is the course for?
KFS welcomes parents, yoga instructors, teachers and other professionals working with children who have autism and other related disorders. This course benefits all individuals who wish to become more confident and effective in working with children with special needs.
Course Objective:
• Participants will deepen their understanding of Autism
• Understanding key behavioral characteristics of Autism
• Specific asanas tailored to the unique needs and strengths of the child
• Overview of Sensory Integration
• How to enter into the child’s world and build rapport
• Materials used to enhance learning
• How to develop mentally appropriate sequences that enhance learning and FUN!
Course developed and delivered by Vanessa Kahlon
Vanessa Kahlon, MA, has been working for over a decade with families who have children with developmental and learning challenges in San Francisco and Los Angeles area. In her various capacities, she has directed and supervised in-home Applied Behavioral Analysis programs for children on the autism spectrum, as well as facilitated social skills groups using YOGA in both school and community settings. She has extensive training in DIR-Floortime, and sensory integration. She has been using YOGA for many years with children who have ADD, anxiety and autism. Her program has show results on building self-esteem and creating a stronger sense of body awareness. She holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Registered Yoga Instructor.

*Includes a $150 deposit. Deposits are refundable for up to 10 days from the date of registration, after which time they are no longer refundable.
